I started Broken Hearts Club to spread awareness for CHD (congenital heart defects) after my son Russell was diagnosed with a VSD (a hole in his heart) shortly after birth and faced open heart surgery as a premature newborn. As you can imagine, those 83 days in the ICU and NICU, and many more even after that, were some of the hardest and scariest of my life. I had to tell myself to "keep going” every single day. I wanted a way for those going through something similar to feel a little less alone and a little more comforted and comfortable when they might need it most.

My goal is not only to raise awareness for CHD—the most common birth defect affecting around 40,000 babies each year —but also to support research. 10% of proceeds will be donated to The Children’s Heart Foundation. 

My hope is that you wear this as your reminder to 'keep going", no matter what kind of club life has put you in. Wear your broken heart on your sleeve with pride—you’re stronger than you know, and you’re not alone.
